The biggest change in livestock prices this week, as is to be expected in Easter week, is in new season lambs which have jumped 15.78p/kg giving an SQQ of 257.88p/kg.
Hoggs have dropped 5.17p/kg , meaning the SQQ is 208.97p/kg, although many markets are reporting export type hoggs are still selling well in excess of this. Cull ewes continue on an upward trend, up 197p per head, giving an average of £86.94 per head.
Cattle prices remain fairly static. Steers and heifers are down fractionally giving an average of 191.94p/kg and 194.16p/kg respectively. But young bulls are up 0.90p/kg averaging 184.76p/kg, which means the average across all sectors is 191.11p/kg, down just 0.13p/kg on the week.
