THE overall championship at the Cornwall pedigree beef calf show, held at the Royal Cornwall showground, went to a Limousin bull. The winner, Rosecroft Frankie, was an October 2010-born bull by Ulm from David and Anne Wheeler of Cullompton, Devon.
The show attracted over 100 entries and the winner of the native section was a January-born Aberdeen-Angus bull, Hinton Predator, from G.E. Kirk of Sturminster, Dorset. In the native section, the Devon championship and reserve titles were won by M. and S. Cowell. The winner was a January 2011-born bull, Eastyard Storm 3, which is by Bollowal Harmony. Reserve was a January-born heifer Eastyard Camelia 4, by Thorndale Fitzroy. The South Devon section was won by L. Pascoe with a Foxhole Bentley sired junior heifer, Carzise Audry.
In the any other native breed classes the winner was a Beef Shorthorn heifer, Redhill Eva Broadhooks, a Chapelton Promoter daughter from Brenda Wear. In the continental section the British Blue champion from Ross Withers was a Daffyd O’chain junior bull; Kernow Tresawle Ghost. The Charolais champion was Marne Guccie, a Sportsman Columbo son from R. Tremayne. Winner of the Simmental title, and reserve continental champion, was a Lakeside Warrior son, Killiworgie Commander, from Mr and Mrs Gumnow.
