THE first ever Speckle Park bull to be sold at auction in the UK went under the hammer at Sedgemoor. Columbpark Xfactor from Matt and Vicky Smith sold to Mrs C. Thorner, Bridport for £2,300.

Xfactor is 100 per cent Speckle Park, a breed has been developed in Canada since the late 1950’s and is an amalgamation of several native breeds including Aberdeen Angus, Shorthorn and White Park genetics. Speckle Park are naturally polled, hardy and able to thrive on forage alone. They produce beautifully marbled meat without excess fat from their medium size carcase. Speckle Parks are an eye-catching native breed and are very easy calving. Their calves are particularly vigorous and are up to suck very quickly.

Xfactor has all the qualities of the breed. He is naturally polled, has very good feet and legs and has an excellent temperament. Columbpark Xfactor is out of Glencardon Ursiline (ET), who was imported to the UK from Ireland by Matt and Vicky, making her one of a pair of the first Speckle Parks to ever set foot in the UK.
