Here I am in a sunny Edinburgh at Agri-Scot  where there already seems to be a bit crowd.

The dairy judging has just got underway, so I will be keeping you posted of whats happening throughout the day.

The South West Dairy Show was held at Wallets Marts, Castle Douglas, was held on Friday night when more than 60 cows and heifers from the top dairy herds in the area took part in the annual event.

It was again a great success with a large crowd of spectators at the indoor show and was judged by Hugh Nelson, East Brackenridge Farm, Strathaven.

The championship in the Jersey classes went to Robert Buchanan of Leigh Kipling Farm, Ballantrae, with his five year-old cow, Croftlands Explosion Leanne, which was by Grayridge Explosion.

The Ayrshire section the overall championship was won by Messrs L. Davidson and Sons of Halmyre, Haugh of Urr, Castle Douglas, with their senior cow winner, Halmyre Urr Louise 175, born in March 2004.

The Holstein section was one of the most keenly contested with large classes and the overall championship went to Brian Yates of East Logan, Castle Douglas, with Logan Pamela, winner of the class for junior cows that have had two calves.
