This weekend, along with over 130 sheep producers and other people involved in the industry, I have been at the Sheep Breeders Round Table, held at Eastwood near Nottingham.

Topics covered have included improving efficiency in production, the latest on what happening in R and D,  particularly on the genetic front, results of various trials and a fascinating insight into what’s happening in the industry in Australia, from Alex Ball of Meat and Livestock Australia. Also a lively debate as to whether rams should be fed concentrates or reared on forage alone. 

It was such a packed weekend it will be impossible to cover it all in detail and we will be running articles from the conference over two weeks. See this week’s FG for the first installment!
